Wasp's Nest Heart

A Poem

Edaphoecotropism:

A natural phenomenon that causes a growing tree to engulf foreign objects in its path. Or a tree refusing not to grow…

The wasps made
their nest out of me
right inside my rib cage

it fit at first but
then replaced all those
bones at such a young age

wrapped round my 
innards then swallowed like
a tree refusing not to grow

my core a fragile
paper nursery now
velvet ants march to and fro

Millions of micro-lenses
shifting in thousands of
compound stalking eyes 

The swarm never ceases 
or misses a beat
while time... never flies 

Come Winter they'll
perish and the Queen 
begins her repopulation

Spring just brings
the next frenzy only
solution: self strangulation.
